Westminster Commission on Joint Enterprise - 2025 Update
Launch of the Westminster Commission on Joint Enterprise:
In November 2024, we launched the Westminster Commission on Joint Enterprise (WCJE). The aim of the WCJE is to examine the law, practice, and policy of joint enterprise. We held our inaugural evidence session in February 2025.
It is exciting to be involved in the WCJE as the first major initiative in my role as Chair of the APPG on Miscarriages of Justice.

Further sessions have been held throughout the year, focusing on topics such as:
· Understanding Joint Enterprise
· Race and Joint Enterprise
· Neurodivergence and Joint Enterprise
These sessions provide a platform for experts, stakeholders, and those with lived experience to present their insights and experiences regarding the application of joint enterprise laws. The evidence we gather will be instrumental in informing our final report on the potential reforms we will be demanding for the fairer and more just legal application of the joint enterprise doctrine.
